Who we are

Our mission is to strengthen our communities by developing, supporting and promoting effective volunteerism in the greater Mercer County area.

Hands On Helpers is a free, online service that provides current information about volunteer work. Designed to help bring together potential volunteers and the nonprofit organizations that need them, the Hands On Helpers web site maintains and continually updates a list of hundreds of area nonprofits and their volunteer opportunities.

Hands On Helpers is governed by a Board of Trustees that develops the vision and the policies for the organization.  In addition, a Community Advisory Board, comprised of members from a diversity of organizations and communities, helps plan activities and makes recommendations about the programs Hands On Helpers offers.  A professional staff and volunteers manage the office and support the community relationships that help match volunteers with non-profit organizations.

Funding is provided by United Way, corporate partners, grants from foundations and private contributors and by its Board members.
