Marge Smith currently designs and teaches the Certificate Course in Nonprofit Management at Mercer Community College.  She also teaches courses in assertiveness and building self-esteem.  In addition to teaching, Ms Smith also works as a consultant to nonprofit organizations, primarily by running retreats for Board Members and Staff.  Previously she served as Executive Director of the Princeton YWCA.

In a volunteer capacity, Ms Smith chairs the Conference Community Works which is held at Princeton University each January.  The purpose of the conference is to enable nonprofit board, staff and volunteers to network, receive training, and expand their awareness of community resources.  She also chairs the Human Services Commission for Princeton which oversees, Civil Rights, Welfare, and Senior and Youth Services.  She volunteers on the Boards of The Child Care Connection and The Thomas Edison State College Foundation and also serves on the Valley Road Child Care Committee.

“I am interested in Hands On Helpers because I am committed to enabling individuals to find meaningful work through volunteering and enabling nonprofits to utilize their skills effectively.  Volunteers can be wonderful resource and truly enhance an agency's ability to accomplish their mission if there is a match between the volunteer's interests and talents and the agency's needs.  If this doesn't happen, the spirit of giving is killed a little.  I am interested by working with Hands On Helpers in keeping this sprit alive and well.”
