The Nominating Committee seeks recommendations for the Board of Directors, as well as for next year's Nominating Committee. The Committee seeks candidates who will provide the Board with a diversity of talent, expertise, age, geographic location and background. Nominators and nominees should read the back of this form carefully before proceeding. Nominators are asked to confirm the willingness of their candidates) to serve, if elected, before submitting this form. Further, they are asked to clarify to their candidates that the Nominating Committee may receive more nominations than are available for Board and Nominating Committee seats. All nominees will be notified of the outcome by the Nominating Committee.

EXPECTATIONS
FOR THE YWCA
Board membership is both an honor and a responsibility, and the YWCA is dedicated to seeking individuals who will serve their terms with diligence and enthusiasm, keeping foremost in their minds the organization's welfare, mission and members.
The YWCA seeks nominees who are:
• Representative of its diverse membership; and
• Fully committed to the
mission of the YWCA, the empowerment of women and the elimination of racism;
• Consensus-minded, strategic thinkers able to focus on the big picture;
They will serve a 3- year term. Terms begin in the month of April and end in the month of June. Board members will be responsible for:
• Annual membership;
• Attendance at all monthly meetings (normally
held the 4 th Monday of each
month at
the exception of July and/or August);
• The thoughtful reading of all packet material prior to each meeting;
• The participation in board-level committee work;
• Financial support of the YWCA's three annual fundraising events; an annual gift that is significant to you; and designating the YWCA as a primary philanthropic focus during your board term.
The YWCA Princeton board believes the key ingredients to being a successful board include:
• Understanding the primary job to be that of designing sound governance policies and managing
organization resources effectively.
• Speaking with one voice
• Enhancing the organization's public standing
• Avoiding "staff" work and keeping focused on board work
• Setting the board's agenda and monitoring its own performance
• Having clear rules about its own behavior and its relationship with the Executive Director
• Being "ends" oriented, and not "means" oriented
• Sharing responsibility for the board's productivity
EXPECTATIONS
FOR THE YWCA
This committee's responsibility is the identification, review and selection of nominees to the YWCA Princeton Board of Directors, as well as the ongoing cultivation of future candidates for nomination. Committee members should be:
• Representative of the YWCA Princeton's diverse membership;
• Willing to fulfill the responsibilities cited above
They will serve a one year term. Terms begin in the month of April and end in the month of March.
Members of the Nominating Committee are elected annually; one member-at-large must serve two one-year terms, and no member may serve more than two consecutive one-year terms. The committee meets on its own schedule as needed to produce a slate of new board members.
